Jan 8 Trail Day
A HUGE thank you to all the folks that came out on Sunday for the All Mountain Trail Work Day. 30 people turned out to help buff out and re-route the Mole Trap, which is now open to the Evil Twin. The trail is looking great! Special thanks to Delaine for making a big batch of delicious chili and to David Waugh for leading the crew. You can check out pictures from this years trail work season at:
All Mountain Trail Crew 1/8/12-Sponsored by the WMBC
Rock & Roll is now cleared and we'll be working on the Mole Trap with a goal of getting through the Mole Trap and part way south on the Lost Giants to Evil Twin. Our hope is to soon have The Mole Trap and Evil Twin opened up so we connect over to the Kaya and Bunny Trails and have a good lower mountain loop.
The WMBC will be sponsoring this trail crew with snacks for the morning and lunch in the afternoon.
WMBC Board Member Search
Ongoing and recent events including land ownership changes, new trail building opportunities and increasing community involvement have been a catalyst for the WMBC to consider its current and future organizational structure.
The WMBC Board has been discussing proposed changes that would be a positive step to help meet the needs of the greater riding community, reach other user groups, expand our role in Whatcom County and with educational institutions.
In addition to recently becoming a recognized 501 c 3 organization, another step in the evolution of the WMBC is to expand the number of board members. The current WMBC board feels additional board members will give a more varied voice to more people, bringing in new energy and talents to help us successfully deal with the challenges that lay ahead.
Public Opinion SurveyThe results of the Public Opion Survey have been compiled on the attached document.  Results of Public Opinion Survey2 (2011).doc  Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out this survey and we hope to continue to hear from you, and work with you, in the future. Please post any additional questions or comments on our forum.   ACCESS CLOSED IN ACTIVE LOGGING AREASANY ACCESS WHETHER VIA TRAIL OR ROAD IS CLOSED IN ALL ACTIVE LOGGING AREAS ON GALBRAITH MOUNTAIN. Janicki had a VERY, VERY close call with a trail user today who did not observe the posted trail/road closures. It is imperative that trail users observe and obey all posted trail closure notices. Access to any of the active logging areas poses an extreme hazard to trail users. Logging crews are not expecting intrusion from the public into these areas and the equipment they operate does not allow for the visibility necessary to operate safely with the general public in the vicinity. Please help keep the mountain open while logging activities are occurring by obeying all posted signs, caution tape closing off roads and trails and spread the word. Thank you, WMBC Board |

Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers putting in some extra time, we are well on our way to getting back some of the lower trails that have been impacted by logging. This next crew session we hope will help us make some crucial connections.
